Discovering Life at a 55+ RV Resort: Our Voyager RV Resort Experience

Discovering Life at a 55+ RV Resort: Our Voyager RV Resort Experience

As full-time RVers, my spouse Joel and I (Deb) recently had the opportunity to stay at Voyager RV Resort, a 55+ RV park near Tucson, Arizona. We were curious to see what life is like behind the gates of an age-restricted RV community.

The Voyager RV Resort is part of the Encore network, which is accessible to us through our Thousand Trails membership. After booking, we had to provide proof that at least one of us was over 55 to confirm our eligibility.

Upon arrival, we were immediately struck by the resort's impressive amenities. The community center features a workout room, multiple pristine pools and hot tubs, and even a bar and restaurant called Fat Willy's. Organized activities abound, from pickleball tournaments to craft classes. The level of maintenance and cleanliness throughout the park was exceptional.

One of the biggest differences we noticed was the social atmosphere. Residents were constantly out and about, eager to chat, join in activities, and welcome new faces. This was a stark contrast to the more solitary vibe typical of regular RV parks. The sense of community was palpable.

Of course, there were some downsides as well. The park operates on strict quiet hours, with the bar and restaurant closing by 8 PM. We even got "busted" by security one night for walking back to our RV without a flashlight - a rule we quickly learned to follow.

Overall, our experience at Voyager RV Resort was incredibly positive. The amenities, social connections, and beautiful setting made it well worth the slightly higher nightly rate compared to non-age-restricted campgrounds.

If you're an RVer with one of you over 55, I'd encourage you to consider giving a 55+ resort a try, regardless of your age. With an open mind and a willingness to get involved, you can absolutely enjoy all that these communities have to offer. Just be prepared for some additional rules and an earlier bedtime!

Have you stayed at a 55+ RV resort before? We'd love to hear about your experiences in the comments below.
